"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.

I use photoshop. To clean sketches i usually turn the contrast up a bit and adjust the brightness and then on to a painfull job of manually erasing everything but the lines, to make it look like a clean ink.
This is why coloring clean inks is much much easier.
